Back from the Piossasco Workshop

We recently concluded our third onsite workshop at Wabtec’s facility in Piossasco, and it was an enlightening experience.

This time, the spotlight was on the Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure (CSRD), with a special focus on its alignment with four of the ESRS Standards: ESRS E1, ESRS E4, ESRS E5, and ESRS S2. The latter standard, ESRS S2, plays a central role as it intertwines with the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) and European Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).

Navigating ESRS Standards for Sustainability

The highlight of this workshop was our exploration of these ESRS Standards. These standards are more than just a framework; they are guiding stars illuminating the path toward sustainability in the rail industry. While the Double Materiality Analysis was briefly revisited, this particular aspect had been comprehensively covered in a previous online workshop where a Railsponsible Double Materiality Analysis had been developed.

Engaging Working Sessions

The workshop featured a series of engaging working sessions where participants had the opportunity to share insights, best practices, and challenges related to the CSRD. These sessions encouraged collaboration and knowledge sharing, reinforcing the Railsponsible commitment to sustainability.

On-Site Visit to Wabtec

In addition to the insightful discussions, we had the privilege of visiting Wabtec’s site in Piossasco. This on-site experience allowed us to see firsthand the company’s sustainability initiatives and practices. It’s always inspiring to witness real-world examples of how organizations are making a positive impact on the environment and society.

A Second Day of Learning

On the second day, our exploration continued with a specific focus on ESRS S2, the standard that connects sustainability the CSRD to the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) and the European Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). These topics provided deeper insights into how organizations can effectively ensure human rights along their value chain.

Conclusion

In conclusion, our third onsite workshop at Wabtec was an illuminating journey, guided by the ESRS Standards, that are instrumental in driving sustainability. We are excited to continue this journey with Railsponsible and anticipate further collaborations that will advance our shared goal of a more sustainable future in the rail industry.

A heartfelt thank you to Wabtec for hosting this insightful workshop, facilitating our collective efforts to shape the future of rail technology and sustainability.

Stay tuned for more updates on Railsponsible’s initiatives and our collective efforts to shape the future of rail technology and sustainability.
